There are several reasons why people look into quitting smoking. In this article, I am going to share two of them that had bothered me for a long time before I quit. The first reason to give up smoking is the damage on the personal image. As we all know, many of the long term smokers have a smile with dark teeth. But the damage will not only go to the image but also be done on the health of the teeth.

The tooth surface will be eroded by the tar. They are difficult to remove even though you have been keeping good tooth brushing habits. The stains go deep into the teeth through the small cracks on the teeth. So the earlier you quit smoking, the easier you can get your white smile back. Another reason why people have to stop smoking is bad breath. You might have already bugged by your wife complaining about your breath. Sometimes, you might even be threatened by her. However, you want to kiss your wife, get close to her and even sleep with her. You sexual needs make you want to quit smoking.

Get your love life back by quitting now. When you talk to someone who will excuse themselves from you when they find that you are puffing bad breath out. I had this kind of bad experience with an insurance salesperson. You would certainly not want to become one like him. Bad breath and tainted teeth are only two of the countless reasons why smoking should be stopped in the life of everyone. You are not willing to let the damage last and get worse, will you?

A lot of benefits can be derived if you quit smoking. Honestly, if you stop smoking, you will have good health and do better psychologically. During your years of smoking, you have abused your body system. The substances that comprise a single cigarette stick trigger the brain. This also affects the brain negatively. Smoking comes with a feeling of joy and a high. However, the aftereffects of smoking destroy the body system adversely. This could also be fatal. When you eventually stop smoking, you would have saved your body a lot of ailments and diseases such as cancer.

Restoring body metabolism to normalcy

As soon as you stop smoking, your body’s pulse and blood pressure would normalize. For example, the level of carbon monoxide as well as nicotine in your blood would be reduced to almost half. Your lungs would start to clear mucous and many other dross that came along with smoking.

Another thing that is restored in your blood is the level of oxygen. Your sense of smell and taste will greatly improve due to the lack of nicotine in your blood. This will enable you to breathe better – because your bronchial tubes are more relaxed. Circulation of blood in your body will improve as a whole.

Many people have suffered ailments such as coughs as well as problems with breathing and sneezing. If you stop smoking, these ailments would be reduced by almost ten percent. Stopping to smoke also drastically reduces the risk of getting lung cancer and heart attacks. Just as I have mentioned earlier, there are many benefits to be derived psychologically if you stop smoking. The greatest of them is an increase in self-confidence. This shouldn’t be viewed as simple because it has proved to be challenging to most people. You are not going to be an exception.

Facing the challenges ahead

As soon as you stop smoking, you become aware of the fact that you would face more difficulties. This will enable you manage your life with courage. Your appearance would improve also. Smoking make you develop wrinkles around your eyes and mouth; while it also stains your fingers and teeth. People who smoke also have much higher risks of become sterile.

Research has shown that people who smoke suffer from low sperm count and many other abnormalities. Women who are heavy smokers suffer from prolonged delivery; or worse still, they might end up having miscarriages. There is also a high probability that they will give birth to stillborn babies and premature babies. In fatal cases, the babies die just a few hours after being delivered.

Don’t turn your family into smokers

Research has also shown that if a baby is brought up in a smoking environment, he or she can easily suffer cot death. If you have children and still smoke, you are only exposing them to contracting diseases like bronchitis and pneumonia. They can also suffer from asthma and end up becoming heaving smokers too. You wouldn’t want to harm your family; it is therefore imperative that you stop smoking now!
